About Me

Welcome to Juniper Grove Counseling! My name is Alyssa. As a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW), I specialize in treating trauma, perinatal mental health struggles, and women's issues, including support for survivors of domestic violence. As a mother myself, I understand the unique challenges that mothers face, and I am dedicated to providing compassionate care.

I am trained in and utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR) as well as Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) for trauma. I also often use Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), psychodynamic therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy. I believe in treating the whole person and am committed to helping you not only feel better, but thrive.

When I'm not providing therapy, I love to spend time with my family, be outside, watch shows, take naps if my kids let me, pet dogs, and bake treats. If you think I might be a good fit for you, I'd love to meet!

Specializing in Trauma Treatment, Perinatal Mental Health, and Women's Issues

Trauma

Trauma is anything that negatively impacts your life and has lasting effects on mood, anxiety, thought patterns, and behaviors. Whether something is traumatic lies in the eye of the beholder. Using EMDR or ART, we can reprocess the trauma so it becomes simply something that happened, and nothing more.

Perinatal Mental Health

Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Disorders (PMADs) are incredibly common among moms (and dads). And it makes sense--having a baby is a huge life adjustment! There are a variety of PMADs, including depression, anxiety, OCD, and the like. The good news? They are all treatable so you can thrive and enjoy parenthood.

Birth Trauma

Sometimes birth doesn't go the way you hoped it would. Maybe you had to have an emergency C-section, and it was scary. Maybe your baby had to spend time in the NICU (I see you mama, I've been there too). There are so many forms of birth trauma, and I am here to support you through it. We can use EMDR and ART to help process the trauma and mitigate trauma symptoms.

Grief & Loss

Losing a child at any point--5 weeks along, 20 weeks, 40 weeks, days old, months old, years old--is one of, if not the, hardest things someone can go through. You do not have to go through this alone, and I am committed to helping you carry that grief and honor your child.

Domestic Violence Survivors

Over 1 in 3 women are survivors of domestic violence (National Domestic Violence Hotline). Many of these survivors are still in abusive relationships. Abuse is not limited to physical violence. If you are in an abusive situation, please reach out to The Hotline at 800.799.SAFE (7233).

Parenting & Everyday Life

Parenting is HARD. And life in general is hard. Whether you're a parent or not, I am here to support you in the everyday issues that come up, including anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, and the like, so that you can live your best life.
